On The Degrees of Love

The different degress of love.

1)True Love/Absolute Love: Love in it's purest form. Where the first time you see the love of your life you are instantly enamored and know you're going to marry that person and live happily ever after. I have never seen this nor in my estimation ever will. This is the kind of crap only in movies. Thus it is only in the imagination. Does it exist? I think it parallels the belief in the Easter Bunny, Santa Clause, and the Tooth Fairy. *For all those critics* Yes, I know this is a very bleak and cynical view but honostly tell me of one happy true love existence and I'll tell you what's wrong with that existence. Married their high school love? It's because they didn't explore the outside world and were content with their first relationship because they either get along well enough to live as a married couple or because they are afraid that there is nothing in the outside world that is better. Married at first sight at age 60? It's because of the desperation of living a hollowed existence old and lonely. I've thought about the possibility of true love but have come to the conclusion that it is merely an unattainable goal/ hopeful thought that keeps us going on a daily basis. It's like the notion that bad things don't happen to good people. It does, we're just comforted by our illusions.

True Love Possibility: .000001% (Because *sigh* I still hope it exists...)


2)Brotherly/Sisterly/Family Love: If you think about it this is as perfect to true love as you can get. This love pretty much entails all the qualities of love that you seek. Unquestioned love as well as loyalty. You know that you can always depend on that person and the one quality that love should represent, that the person holds your well-being above their own. Where you would jump in front of a bullet for someone. (Granted some people wouldn't for various reasons for their family members, but I talk in generalities..) The only setback is that obviously you can't have sexual relations with family members (something to be discussed in a later entry). Ironic that the one love you can depend on from birth is the only one you arn't allowed to fuck. (I threw that in for shock value, I'm such a tool..)

Brotherly/Sisterly/Family Love Possibility: 1.00 or .00 (Because you either have those family members or you don't.)
